me thinks this is the best thing that could happen:

"Removing overhead wires"

of course, I'll be deceased by the time this actually happens

Kinda like that thing they say about restaurants where people will tell many more persons about a bad meal than they will about a great meal.

I lived in the Zona when they did the first phase. It was a disaster. 3 weeks no water or electricity. Noise. Dirt. Mud. They fixed something then had to refill it over and over. I think they learned a lot from the first phase, at least I hope they did. I had an entire picture album of it almost to the end then I just got tired of it all and gave up. https://colonialzone-dr.com/Renovation-of-the-Colonial-Zone/

One has to take into account the variety of lines they're removing, from where to whom. And I'm guessing all of them would require working with companies who have to identify each of their lines, generate work orders to execute the job, approvals.... I can totally understand the amount of time it would have taken.

That's the equivalent when they do Semana Santa in Las Terrenas. The place is cleaned up on the next day after the event is over. That is simply how it is whenever there are local events in tourists areas in the DR.

This is what happened last night in the Colonial Zone. Most (to not say all) young locals.

There was a giant Teto (I think that's what they call it) last night . Lots of noise, distruction and very upset residents. All Halloween activities are now banned.
Ah Halloween. Yes teteo I think they say. I first heard the term during the pandemic in Santo Domingo.

There was supposed to be a Halloween festival this weekend but it's been cancelled thanks to the unruly idiots from last night
