The store Banana Republic opens its first store in Caribbean at the Blue Mall. I'll shop there when I have chance, they have good stuff.

What's wrong with me? I own 30 yr. old vehicles, buy all of my new clothes for pennies on the dollar (don't own a suit), hardly ever have an electrical issue, and can't remember the last time I had a banking problem.

I never really liked the Banana Republic, seemed expensive for what they sold. There used to be a few stores around (in US near us) but they closed all but 2 and then the 1 outlet store that is open. Aren't they with the same group who has Old Navy, Gap, Athleta, etc...

You live in the independent republic of JD Jones. I hear it’s surrounded by San Cristóbal.

True story. This summer our son found a stack of new Banana Republic polo shirts in his closet. Apparently they were delivered to his house accidentally and whoever unpacked them didn’t realize his name wasn’t on the box, it was long gone by the time he noticed 8 new shirts that were way too big for him. No way to find the shipper or addressee. Coincidentally, they were Mr AEs size so he’s inherited them. Nice shirts but not sure they’re worth the $55-60 price tags on them.

Fairly good quality. Their wears last a long time with proper care in laundry. I used to be a big fan of the loafers.

I wonder if the brand is popular enough to maintain in the DR. I know some years ago it was, but not so much anymore. I just do not hear "I bought it at Banana Republic" that much anymore.

What's wrong with me?

Absolutely nothing...

I own 30 yr. old vehicles, buy all of my new clothes for pennies on the dollar (don't own a suit), hardly ever have an electrical issue, and can't remember the last time I had a banking problem.

We don't quite reach that, but we do currently drive a 21 yo vehicle, which I absolutely adore. Due carrying cargo etc, we have had to recently rent newer cars, which I absolutely hate... The older the car, the better for the electrics and reliability, and add to that, my wife gets "sea sick" and starts to "dispose" everything she has eaten recently when ever she feels the "new car scent". So when we've rented those newer vehicles, she has to go with an empty stomach or windows open even in the winter. So newer cars would never even be an option for us...

I currently own a suit due to a family thing this past summer but I know I won't wear it again. At work, nobody cares how I dress, only what I produce... And my wardrobe is (unfortunately) according to that fact... My wife has a passion (professionally and private) for fashion, she's really good at that, me, not so much... All my t-shirts are either black or white and from H&M or something... I inherited this non-passion for clothing from my mother...

I just counted 15 shirts/t-shirts I brought from the USA when I retired 6 years ago. I think 4 or 5 were bought at a thrift store.
My entire selection of golf shirts/polos and shorts over the last 5 years are from La Pulga de Sosua. I have 8 shirts, 6 shorts (Nike, Under Armour, Adidas, etc.) and everything cost under US $60. One polo at my pro shop is $125.00:eek:

I haven't paid more than 10 dollars for a shirt for decades.

The other day I gave 12-13 Colombia shirts to my maid for her son who is my height and he was over the moon.

I got them on a Colombia shirt binge on EBAY and kept picking them off 1 by 1 using Gixen over the space of about 6 months.

I have a huge closet full of clothing I haven't worn for years. Covid changed my style. Now I wear mainly T-Shirts and cargo pants. I have given away around 30 dress shirts and two suits. Both my wife and I have adopted a minimalist style.
