I have a fruit in my garden its round and green when its on the tree ,the leaves are large oval and dull acqua green when it falls off the tree it splits open into a yellow star fish shape with a few red seeds in the centre ...I think the plant grows on other trees. It is the shape of star annise ...anyone any idea what it is ...is it useful for anything(theres not much flesh in it) can you dry it in some way for decorative purposes

Does it look like this, growing on a vine, then it is Chinola

nothing like it but thanks lol...similar colour and shape when on the tree this is the shape when its on the ground but yellow and red

I'm afraid not - perhaps its the only one in the world..perhaps its more of a green roun pod than a fruit as there isnt much flesh its about the size of a tennis ball

For a tasty treat a la Elvis Presley type cuisine (I'm thinking of fried Mars bars!!!), take a rulo still in its skin, turn it on the convex side (so it's curved up at th ends like a boat, slide it down th emiddle but not through the skin at the bottom, fill gap with marshmallows and then top with chocolate or chocolate sauce (real good quality chocolate is better, which of course mans that American pseudo-chocolate will not do at all). Finally, wrap the whole thing up in kitchen foil and place on the barbecue or in fire embers fora while. 3 rum punches should do it.

Oh, I almost forgot - then you eat it. :classic:

I learnt this while living in Barbados - and I'm still alive.

lol...no when it falls off of the tree the pod splits open ,peels back and lands on the floor like a starfish with a bright red centre

Last time I check Chinola was parcha.
Their two main type . yellow and purple.

The nashi pear is being sold locally and they are great.

I am saving the seeds and would like to grow a fruit bearing tree, but was wondering what the best method would be.....I'm not much of a green thumb.
