I have been trying to find a 1 bedroom apartment in Puerto Plata that has air conditioning not just limited the bedroom. I don't want to feel trapped in one room because the rest of the apartment or living room is too hot. "Been there, done that". It seems to be a difficult task. Any suggestions?

I understand. I once had a window unit with a sleeve. I bolted the sleeve to the window frame with an eye hook and a steel cable. I suspect those may be hard to find now

I read your post. I just curious ,why were you advised to go with split units?. Why is it I never see window units in DR ?,only split units

I have a portable air conditioner. It is relatively quiet and does a reasonable job. The thing to remember is that the BTU out put is not the same as a regular air conditioner. A regular 8000 BTU air conditioner would have cooled the space I needed but it took 12000 BTU portable to cool the same...
