I have a strong desire, ooh a strong desire for Taco Bell. I could pretend to kill for a chilupa and some of the hard tacos with the fire sauce. Where is a Taco Bell in Santiago....and as matter of fact, where is Subway's also? I could go for a meatball sub.

Taco Bell is in the Zona Rosa on Duarte - a little past the ayuntamiento.
i don't think there is a subway in santiago - or any decent american style sandwich place.

Probably the best sandwich place (American "style") is La Campagna. There are 4 or 5 stores in Santiago. One is on JP Duarte a block from Puerto Madera...another is in Los Jardines, just off Av. Texas on calle 4 I believe.

Ay no mi hjo :) - with all due respect La Campagna sandwhiches aren't worth the money and half the time they put catsup on it when you tell them not too. After all, if you ask for a chicken sandwhich you don't expect to get a chicken salad one with dark meat do you? They also use the inferior Danish style cheese instead of Mozzarella and of course they charge you through the nose for an "upgrade".

To the OP: The best Italian sub sandwhich in Santiago bar none can be found off the Ave Texas in Los Jardines at a pub called Palermos. It is owned by a second or third generation Italian.

As far as tacos go, here in Santiago we say "no quiero Taco Bell, que horrible!" You best bet is to do it yourself, all the fixings you need you will find in El Nacional or El Pola. Buen provecho!

hahahahaha! Ketchup on a dark meat chicken sandwich? say what now?
And I dont know about JP Duarte, but Pizza HUt is on Av Cuba and Calle Sol. Y McDonalds es por la proxima cuadra
Yo se que tenia Subway al aeropuerto SDQ in the past and its probably still there. I tried el Provocon Chicken por Restauracion y Sabana Larga and I was not impressed. Small bland chicken(which was really odd because it looked like rotisserie but where were the seasonings. They were swabbing it with what must have been water), coupled with hard guineo, buttered yuca is good but who can eat too much of that? 300 pesos.

Bueno, RacerX - there is more than one Pizza HUt in santiago, in fact there are more than two. And there are three McDonalds. Wow!

Chip, I'm with you on the sandwiches at La Campagna. Expensive and not so great tasting. ANd Francepan is not much better. THere's something weird about the bread here... like it's sweet when it's not supposed to be!

Calm down man have an enema and think about decaf. Who cares how many McDonalds there are? I was asking specifically about Taco Bell and Subway franchise restaurants. Not the near equivalent nor facsimile.

Man, I feel for you, I really do.

I've visited most of the Taco Bell's here in Santo Domingo, just so I could report back to you that they are doing very well indeed. But then again, all of the fast food places in Santo Domingo have been doing very well for the last couple of years.

I had a taco salad with Nachos yesterday at Bella Vista mall. A couple days before, I had a super crunchy burrito at Diamond Mall.

And of course, how could I forget the 3 tacos and Fiesta Fries Supreme I had at their Churchill location.

I'm planning on going to Plaza Central very soon, to have one of them Mexican Pizzas.

And while Subway is long gone, there is a Shell station between Lope de Vega and Americana on Kennedy that has one of those "on the run" type stores, with yes, believe it or not, a sub sandwich shop. MAN! Are they GOOD!!!!!

Huh?

Santiago???

Sorry, can't help ya there.... yuk yuk

Ladies and gentlemen May I introduce you to the Marquis de Sade! Yea, man you know how to rub it in. When I was in Jarabacoa like 10 years ago I saw a pizza in a "pizzaria". Yuk, it had no tomato sauce or anything you could recognize except for being round. It had string beans on it, yellow and green(dont know what that was about) and cheese, maybe? Then they also had hotdogs that were WAYYY off of what you d see at Gray's Papaya. They were all bloated and looked like miniature clown shoes. These people are being robbed of fine fast foods. I like Taco Bell, because in Miami it was a cheap date, where I lived. Taco Bell here and Blockbuster Video across the street. Ha! $15 for a night out? So I wanna go back to that. No more McBurger Supremos, o Cuatra libra con queso, el Bi'Max or El Whoape from Bur'd-Kee. You will find out for people who dont eat that slop regularly how much of a treat it is for them. And may I add again CHEEEEEEEEEEEAP!

The uncontrolled proliferation of fast-food joints throughout the island will have a deleterious effect on the success rate of finding "fine chicas"; they will be replaced by the ubiquitous pear-shaped specimens.;)

Man, fast food places here are big business now, and it's tough to find a girl that ain't chubby anymore.

I'm sure there's no correlation, however. ~cough cough~

I dont know about you bro, but she just has to be chubby in the right places...wink wink!

Not really, you still need the money to eat there. And still it is an acquired taste for some people who eat rice beans and plantains everyday.
