Century Plaza Hotel

My friends and I are staying at the Century Plaza Hotel in march. How is the area around the hotel? like is it safe to walk around and explore on a saturday night? We're travelling through and will be staying the weekend there and are looking for some interesting things to do and places to eat while we visit. Any suggestions?

The area around the hotel is safe enough, but there is really nothing to see or do at night, unless the Ambis Disco has re-opened. Your best bet is to drive or take a taxi to Plaza Internacional (movies, food court, trendy club called MOMA, great inexpensive grill restaurant across the street), Los Jardines (around 20-30 clubs, restaurants and bars, many within walking distance of each other), or the Monument area (several restaurants, discos, and bars, and...The Monument! - always a party at night).

thanks for the info! one last question, are taxis expensive? we'll probably be taking that route.
