Looks like a Tony Roma's is about to open in Santiago. I've never eaten at one and I am not necessarily a fan, I will certainly go there at least once, mainly it's nice to see Santiago attracting international investment like this.

We ate at the one in Santo Domingo several years ago because our kids were craving 'American' food. Food was good, and we had a great waiter that night. My husband loved the big frosty Presidente mug his beer was served in, and we asked if we could buy one. The waiter said no, they didn't sell them, but he'd be a 'chivo loco' and we could just take it home with us.:cheeky:

Not a fan of franchise places, but I wonder what the ambience and price list would be like.

Aren't you referring to the Juan Pablo Duarte?

Codetel/Claro is located at the corner of Estrella Sadhala and Juan Pablo Duarte.

A pint of H?gen =Daz RD$325
A pint of Bon = RD$105

one is one block south, the other is one block north...always liked the North Star!

It's on the Juan Pablo Duarte in the new plaza with the movie theater that just went up.

I want to say between Materno Infantil and Plaza Internacional, but I could be wrong about the location of the Meterno Infantil. If you head to that general vicinity it will be hard to miss in any case.

I am waiting for chef peppers to open up in santiago. Their food will put TGI to shame.

But will the cockroaches be the same? I am really not an "eating out" person...so I will leave it to you folks to decide. Tony Roma's? TGIF? McD? BK? KFC? Can't say I have ever been.
Ask me about the longaniza and fried meat place on the Santiago-Licey road...ummmmgood. Or "El Humazo" on the Luperon Touris Hwy....great! Or the place in Amina!! Or the corner place in Villa Elisa? But a franchise?? No way!!

Sorry, done gone local....

HB, sort of curmudgeony today...must be cause I'm on the way to the (gulp) dentist?

If you eat there, try the Onion Loaf appetizer. And of course the slab of ribs.

And bring more than 3000 pesos, esp if your date brings her family...

$RD 250 for ice cream??? That's more than a buck a piece if you split it five ways...

I ate there a few nights ago at the Hilton in SD. A slab of ribs (9) was about 600 rd as I remember, with potatoes, and a full loaf of Onion Rings was 230rd. The onion rings can feed 4 people without exaggeration, for an appetizer.

I thought the prices were more than reasonable for what they serve. The original sauce for the ribs are very good, as are the ribs.
