There is a sign posted at entrance to casino that I saw yesterday when going to gym. It said that close to ring tickets were US$100 and $80, and this includes, as I recall, drinks, and general admission is US$20 or $30. I will walk past later today and check the sign again so I can confirm the general admission price. Will also if it says where to get tickets. Fists of stone Doran is one of the fighters, according to the info posted.

There was an interesting piece recently in a Spanish language publication based on an interview with the man who now has the casino building concession. It said his business in the US is both casino operation and fight promotion and that he intended to bring top fighters to Sosua. This will be the first of what he said will be many.

The location of the fight is the casino building of Sosua Bay Hotel. It will be on the 2nd floor in the large auditorium.

To correct a typo, one of the fighters is Roberto Duran. Both fighters are Latinos.

Is this the same Roberto Duran that fought Sugar Ray Leonard about 25 years ago?
If so, it is sad that this guy blew his money and is having to put his health on the line into his late 40's or early 50's in order to earn a living.
If this is the same Duran Sosua may become known as the place where old boxers go to die.
I hope it's not the same guy.

Roberto Duran will be there, but not to box. There are some good fights scheduled.

Thanks for the link.
Duran was a hell of a fighter in his days.
Nobody earned their nickname more than Roberto " Hands of Stone" Duran.

I've never gone to a profession boxing event and would like to go. Are spectators allowed to bring a camera and take photos during the fights?

I missed it!!

Can not believe I missed it...well I knew it was coming but just forgot it. I really wanted to see it. Watching ESPN and seeing the guy falling out of the ring. BUT..The only "ad" was an ad on the Casino door??? Have not seen anything here on DR1.com, not a poster in Cabarete..NADA. Why?

Well, I will see Pacquiao tonight.

Btw, what was up the ring?? The ropes looked slack to say the least.

I was there. It was really a great event. About 7 or 8 fights, and a lot of action.

The ropes were so loose that both fighters in one bout fell out of the ring together.

The place was packed. Diaz won, but not as easy as people thought he would. The kid from Nicaragua was tough as nails. Over all a nice night.

Cool, very good for the north coast. Really hope that the event was a success, so we will get more of these events. How many people can the place take?

Pacquio - Mayweather next... ehhh Or maybe Tyson - Holyfield, well now that would be tragic.:ermm:

The owner of the Casino told me 600, but it looked like more to me. But that is close enough. It was a big success, and they are looking to do more of the same in the future.
