Pasta and Pasta is situated on the little road going up between Guilia’s Cafe and Bistro Marianna, opposite the new Marbella apartment building. It is owned by Alexandra Comoglio, who is half Haitian and half Italian!! Alexandra speaks Creole, French, English, Italian and Spanish, but is renowned locally for her fabulous pasta!

Alexandra learnt her skill at culinary school in Italy where she qualified in Pasta making! She makes all types of pasta, including tagliatelle and spaghetti, but it is her ravioli which is her speciality. The recipe is a closely guarded secret but includes flour and eggs. Apparently the secret is in the texture of the dough!!

You can eat this amazing pasta at the cafe itself – with a whole range of sauces, including tomato, ricotta cheese, mushroom. She will also serve you fresh fish or amazing steak if you would prefer, rather than pasta.

If you want to impress your family or guests, you can buy the pasta to cook at home – it starts at 200 RD$ for a pound of tagliatelle, and the ravioli is 350 RD$ a pound, which is enough for 4 people.

And it is not just in Juan Dolio you can experience her pasta. The Iberostar group of hotels in Bavaro buy direct from Alexandra, as well as several of the restaurants here in Juan Dolio.

So next time you fancy having pasta for dinner, no more buying the dried pasta in packets from the supermarket – go for the real thing and drop in at Pasta and Pasta for a real taste of Italy.

Pasta and Pasta is open every day apart from Sunday, from 8.30 in the morning until around 11pm.
