Please help us choose the right resort.
I have travelled to just about every other island but Dominican
I will be travelling with a party of about 15 in November.
I am trying to plan my little brothers Wedding.
There are sooo many resorts to choose from.
I was wondering if anyone can give us some suggestions.
We would like
-multiple A La Cartes
-1 or more buffet
-lots to do on the resort
-active nightlife on the resort
-on the beach

Since they are a young just tarting out couple they are looking for a good price resort!
They have Bavaro Princess in Mind....

Help Please ☺

Try Punta Cana Beach Resort and Club - very very close to airport. Our daughter was married there - it was beautiful. I know some family whose daughter was married this past summer at Paradisus Punta Cana. I heard it was a beautiful wedding. Make sure that someone in your family can speak Spanish- if you decide to use any hotel in DR.

I stayed at the Majestic Elegance and loved it. Excellent food...lots of restaurants to choose from...great beach and lots of activities. Would highly recommend it.

I have stayed in hotels all over the Dominican Republic, and I've only run across one place where no one spoke English at the front desk - but they didn't speak Spanish either!!!! It was in Bavaro at an Italian owned & operated resort, it seems all their clientele was from Italy. We were meeting Italian friends there and it was a challenge checking in. Habla Ingles? "No, parlo Italiano". Ah, habla Espanol? "No, parlo Italiano". We had to track down our son, who speaks Italian fluently, to accomplish anything.

We had a lot better luck with the Dominican staff.

I suggested a knowledge of Spanish only to perhaps make your vacations a little easier. I am sure that with the perfect beaches and water you will be very happy - But - there are a number of Americans who flock down here expecting their wishes/demands to be completely understood and adhered to. Too many of the staff in many of these hotels just do not understand - so that is why I mentioned a little knowledge of Spanish as useful. My remarks were made in the context of someone wanting to plan a wedding!

both good locations,
but none is on the requested budget side.
at a good resort you will find a attached wedding coordinator who speaks good english, no prob.

Puntacana Resort & Club is indeed a beautiful location but 1) not a budget location 2) no active nightlife on resort or near the resort.

Have you looked into Grand Palladium Resorts? They are centrally located so lot's to see and do off resort too.

right Yumi,
and the OP anyways stated that they look onto the bavaro Princess,
a good place,
resonable rates,
located Central at the Plaza Bavaro for off resort activities in walking Distance,
2 off resort dance clubs nearby,
a Casino right at the Frontgate.
not a bad choice by the description of expectations.
cheers

Bavaro Princess is a DUMP. Old construction, moldy rooms, antiquated furniture, and food-poisoning along with a sullen staff. OCEAN BLUE is the BEST albeit a little more expensive which may be negotiable for a group. New construction, friendly staff, incredible food! and entertainment.

Moon Palace is very nice however i was speaking to the activities manager only last night and one of the biggest complaints is that there is very little to do.

The Dreams hotels are very nice especially Dreams Punta Cana, wonderful kids club, they even supply parents with a mobile phone so when the child has had enough they will call you to collect them. They even have overnight camping in the explorers club so mum and dad can have some fun in the evening. Also lots to do for teenagers, in fact activities all day long for all ages.

I also personally know all the wedding coordinators there and they are excellent.

I would also recommend the Palladium resort, lots to do for kids and teenagers and the royale suites are for adults only and very nice too, personal butler from 88 dollars pp/pn!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Very nice indeed!! Also the Palladium resort is right in the heart of Bavaro, next to nightclub Mangu and a short taxi ride to many other clubs and shopping centres.

Stay away from Grand Paradise and Occidental Flamenco, Uk travel agents have just taken these hotels out of their brochures as too many complaints.

Good luck

nice recommendations guys,
but from my reading of the OP it been asked for a Budget Hotel.
looking on the Royal suites or such is an other ballpark I would guess.
Angel,
good or bad food is something different for every individual,
one's fav dish an other would not touch and viceversa.
the Ocean Blue and the Bavaro Princess are both ranking in the lower class, nice budget resorts for great deals throughout the year.
for such rates no gourmet dining or brand new rooms should be awaited.
for a Wedding I would look myself on the Majestic Elegance, The Palladium Turquesa, Tortuga Bay, Paradisus Palma Real and if Budget doesn't matter I would take the Sivory, but Budget is the first decider of all, the factor we can not take away, at least the very most of travellers.

IF budget is a main issue - remember a couple of things - November is a shoulder season and for a party of 15 you should be able to negotiate some great rates.

AND you can stretch that budget much further if you look at the North Coast - Gran Ventana, Coral Oasis and Iberostar can all compete on price and amenities with the added benefit of lots of active nightlife close by.

Just giving you another option! ;)

Palladium Turquesa is The royale suites and we stayed there for 88 dollars pppn which i thought was great considering that alot of so called budget hotels are nearer 100 dollars pppn.

88 pppn is a great deal, no doubt, that place is well worth such cheap rate, it is a very nice place.
Mike

I thought so too, we had a great 4 nights there recently, the food in the restaurant for Royale suits guests was wonderful and there is a private area on the beach for royale suits guests. Our room had a large jacuzzi tub in the middle of the room, butler service and a four poster bed. I will be going back thats for sure!

There is alot of great hotels in bavaro, but from what you say the young couple is on a budget. I would suggest The RIU it has just been remodled very nice and there is a younger crowd there. Mainly20's and 30's. Lots of night life ! The food is good and there is also alot to do on the beach.
