My neighbour is going to Cuba for an 8 day holiday - leaves out of Santo Domingo and the flight is less than an hour.

So I have been living here for a while and began thinking that I forgot that I am so close to so many other islands.

Where have you gone for a vacation from the DR?
What have the costs been like?
Any flights out of PoP or Santiago or are most of them out of the Capital?

This is a good question. I've done the cruise out of Santo Domingo but would love to do a bit of Island hopping!

He is Dominican and all he needed was a passport. There is a group of teachers - now on holidays - that are going.

What is the process for traveling to Cuba from the DR? Sounds like an interesting trip.

Contact Emily Tours in Santo Domingo. One of their specialties is travel to Cuba. They have good contacts there. When I went to Cuba with a couple of family members, I booked through them and was very satisfied. We flew in and out of Santo Domingo on the Cuban airline.

To get into Cuba, you need a passport and tourist visa. Emily Tours will give you the visa. Cuba does not stamp your passport, they stamp the visa that is independent of the passport.
