Is there a real medicine for GRIPE

After close to 3 years here I finally got as sick as a dog. Went to the dr. and he said it was Gripe. He didn't write a prescription for anything, he said that the medicine was strictly over the counter sales. Is this just a very bad cold? Very weak, lethargic, headache that won't go away and coughing like there's no tomorrow.
Have to stop and lie down for awhile, again. Any info would be great.
This sucks.....

i got it too -- and even worse, yesterday had to fly on my most sick day.

the thera flu teas are the best, there's daytime and nighttime versions.

I assume you are talking about the flue?

Nothing much you can do about it, drink a lot. I use the old recipe of my mother being hot limon/lime juice, hot for the soar throat and then another can with cold one for the vitamins.

Lots of rest and if the fever gets to high you can take some aspirine or perdolan to keep that under control.

Work to hard whilst having the flue and you are very vulnerable to second infections such as pneumonia.

Chicken soup is very good .

It does not taste good but it does help.

It feels like in about 2 days it will be over either the gripe or my life.....,
back to bed...

With that comment, you sound worse then when we talked last night!

Remember, when you start feeling better, STAY HOME and GET MORE REST!
So many people start feeling better and start running around before they recover their strength and just get sick all over again.

I will be going to Pricesmart later today, if you need anything give me a call.

Fluimucil works great for the congestion in the throat.

Sleep, and sleep some more. Sinutab and Winasorb work really well. The tea really helps too. And if you have the means, a hot shower always makes one feel better when sick.

Lots of rest and keep your fluid intake up. I endorse the tea with lemon and honey, works like a charm.

I really dont believe in most of the OTC remedies sold for gripe....technically, its viral so it has to just run its course. Acetaminophen can help reduce the fever or any associated body aches/pains.

As much HOT SAUCE that you can endure in soup. Take that soup as much as possible. Works for me, in a week I am cured with no fever, stuffy nose or coughing. Also take echinacea pills.
