You know... they keep doing things like this, I may have to begin to support them
Back in 2007, a very nice young local bartender Uber Matos was out enjoying his day on a downhill bike ride in Puerto Plata when he lost control of his bike and fell, breaking his 3rd, 4th, and 5th vertebrae. To see someone who had been so energetic & full of life unable to feel anything below his middle chest was difficult for his friends and acquaintances. The community did what it could to help and Uber himself showed tremendous willpower and character in his battle to recover, training 4 to 6 hours a day to push his body to recover.
Uber's still in a wheelchair, but this past weekend he could be found back working at his own specially modified bar in Nikki Beach.
Seeing him back working on the beach is a testament to his strength and character. And let's give credit... it says something good about Nikki Beach as well.
Kudos to Nikki & welcome back, Uber!
