Despite what you hear, do not gamble in a casino in the Dominican Republic. Do not trust anything other than first hand advice. If you don't know the person telling you that the casinos are fair or they are the same as Vegas, don't believe them. Vegas casinos are regulated. That means that it would be very difficult for the casino to cheat you. There are very strict government regulations and gaming regulations on Vegas casinos. There are no government regulatory or self-regulatory institutions watching the casinos in the Dominican Republic. They will get away with what they can. I've seen it and I've talked to many others who have also seen it. Go spend your money on something enjoyable. Gambling is fun but, it's miserable when you feel you have to keep your eye on the dealer all night so that you don't get cheated. Just imagine what's happening that you aren't seeing. Most of all, if you insist on ignoring this advice, absolutely stay away from any progressive roulette or keno type games.

John - I couldn't agree more!! Progressive Roulette - Keno - whatever you want to call it - I call it a rip-off. If you are given a chip for a free spin - politely decline it. You can win NOTHING with one spin - except the opportunity to lose money. As far as the slot machines go - remember that most NA casinos rely on a large amount of repeat business to make their money. In DR they have tens of thousands of new suckers coming in every week - they don't care if you come back. Casinos there are a major rip-off.
