We will be flying into Santo Domingo but staying most of our week in Las Galeras. We would like to do some snorkeling (maybe a LOT) but are hoping for some ideas different than what we've read about in the travel books. Ideally, we'd like a location that can be reached without hiring a boat or paying for an excursion.
We've heard Sosua is good on the north shore but would prefer somewhere closer to Las Galeras, if there is anything.
I guess the coral reefs are excellent along the southeast shore, especially out of Bayahibe BUT that area is crazy with AI's which we want to avoid. Are there any quite locations along the SE coast, hopefully closer to Santo Domingo, where snorkeling is good and equipment is available?
Thank you for the information.
