A real bergain, I live about same distance from the airport here in US. The rate of RDU taxi union is $ 50. bucks.

last time I looked it was RD$450-500....You can bargain and see. It is like a 15 minute ride. Jeez Louise, in Santo Domingo it is RD$1000 to the airport and it takes forever to get there..
Don't sweat it. Just go from taxi to taxi and ask how much>?
Grab a taxi that has just dropped on a departing passenger and ask him. Be aggressive.

Yes he will have to shop around on that one. The fare can be $800 pesos which I was told it was normally to $500pesos from an EMI taxi guy to $300 pesos from a friend whose brother was a taxista, I gave him 400pesos just to be fair. The price has a lot to do with if you know someone and what the rate should be for the locals. You think you got conned if you pay 800pesos for something a local can get for 300pesos. Or that it is a deal compared with $50 flat route to JFK/LGA from anywhere in NY.
Offer 500 pesos.
If they say more, walk away, they will call you back.
The guy telling you the price is most likely the middle man, try to get directly to a driver.

Thanks for all the responses/advice. Anyone have a taxi driver we can call ahead of time to do an airport pick up and drop off at Metro Bus? My daughter is coming into town (in May again) and will come directly to me at the dentist across from the bus station.
