Dear Mr. Guzman,

I would like to ask you about getting my residencia. My case is complicated since I am in the country since 12 years ilegally. There were circumstances (financially and being cheated out of my means)) which would not allow me to proceed with it.

I am married to Dominican Woman (since 1996) we have one son together. I am now able to pay for getting the residencia and I want to do it.

My question is how? What about this proposal / law (?) which said over 10 years illegal here one could get a permanent residency?

Anyway what kind I am ready to get it and pay for it.

Just don't know if I can start the normal procedure (+paying a fine of coursr) or if I have to expect other complications.

Thank you very much Sir

The proposal about the ten-year period is part of the "new" immigration law (enacted in 2004) that is still awaiting its enabling regulation. If you decide to apply now, I don't think you'll have a problem obtaining a residency if you're an American, .
Besides having to pay a fine,

Thank you for your quick answer!
What about other (western europe) nationalities? No problem for Germans i.e.? The fine would be how much more or less?

I believe the fine is 500 RD per month! For 12 years that is 12 X 6,000RD (for the year) = 72,000RD!!!

That seems to be a very minimal fine.
To the OP. How will they even know how long you were in the country?

Lindsey is right, and due this passport expired and embassy issued new one. Can prove staying here uninterrupted. Fine I checked found something saying "5 years plus = 17.000..." How much will it be now? 17K or 72K? Anybody knows the answer?
