Hello,
has anybody knowledge about what mobil-phone-standards are used in the dominican republic? Specifically I'm interested if I can use my dualband GSM (900 and 1800) phone.

only orange phone co. use GSM system

The french telephone company (new arrival), ORANGE uses the GSM system with the freqs. that you have mentioned. They have a limited coverage at the moment but spreading fast. Orange covers Santo domingo, santiago, I think, moca, bonao and salcedo too, but i am not too sure yet.
Puerto plata and other nothern regions will be covered very soon by them.
Other companies, like: Codetel, Tricom and the new arrival, centennial use the PCS system (CDMA, dual band digital 1900 and analog 800mhz). centennial uses only digital.
