From today's Sosua-News:

"Where has the memorial structure at the Juan Bosch park gone?

"The Jewish community donated the park at the taxi stand, next to the Sos?a Bay Casino, in the late nineties to the people of Sos?a. One condition was that the municipal park should be kept in good condition. Early 2000s a sign was posted at the park which showed how the park would be restored in Victorian style. The drawing also pictured a beautiful pond with bridge. Later, a new sign appeared, on which the pond was replaced by a blank space.

"Not long after, there, on the blank space, they started building the casino and theater. The theater is definitely an asset to Sos?a because there are theatrical and film performances and there is room for other events and meetings. But what also disappeared was the special entrance of the park. The Jewish community had put a double arch at the entrance which should symbolize Moses' two stone tablets. At the start of the construction of the casino the promise was made that this special structure would be put back into place after completion of the casino. Although opinions about the beauty of the structure are divided because some said that it is rather a McDonalds emblem and looked very ugly, many residents out of respect for the Jewish pioneers of Sos?a, would like to see this structure back in its original position.
