Organized tours to Pico Duarte

A few years ago I did the trek in January organized by Desde el Medio, with a group of around 100 people.
Due to the long weekend it was very busy on the trail with several big and small groups. The conditions were very bad: raining whole day, till 30 cm of mud, and in the evening only 3-4 degrees Celsius.

A the camping place before the top (+- 2600m) there arrived several people under-cooled with two persons in very bad conditioning, they got in a coma. They were part of small private groups, but got medical assistance from the 2 medicals belonging to Desde el Medio because it was a life threatening situation. That was the moment I realized you also could die from cold in the D.R. !

Why I tell this story?
Although I am not the guy that does normally organized trips, I definitely can recommend it here especially if climatological conditions could be bad. And if you do it on your own, prepare to have decent clothing in your dayback.
