Dominican Armor 1960-present

Anyone know what type of tanks the DR Army had in inventory during these periods, including armored cars, personnel carriers etc.

I have seen pictures of US made M 41 Walker Bulldog light tanks apparently deployed during The U.S. Occupation of the early 1960's but little else

I seem to recall someone (I think it was a Pichardo travelogue) posting multiple pages of Dominican armor a year or so ago and I was somewhat involved in a discussion, but can't find it using search :-(

See Pichardo, I trust your information, most of the time as long as you stay out of Iranian airspace :ermm:

Thanks

Any idea what type of tanks are in the last two photos? Next to last looked like Walkers but gun mount is all wrong unless it is some type of upgrade I have never seen

I thought possibility of upgraded gun also, then after looking some more realize the whole tank looked small for the 25 ton "Bulldog" the tracks don't look like anything US either, maybe these are the Swedish AMX and the older could be the earlier Swedish

It actually doesn't look much like a tank but mobile howitzer, that's a big rifle on a small platform

I'm no armor expert, had to learn silhouettes of 1970's+ WARSAW pact stuff but nothing I recognize here

This is an AMX-13 French built light tank with lots of upgrade... No longer in service with the DR Armed Forces...

Same AMX-13 as they arrived in the country back in Trujillo's Era. No upgrades at all at the time.

Pichardo, what armored vehicles are currently in service with the military? I'm guessing no tanks, but probably apcs and light armored cars.

Santiago DR
Most of the armored vehicles have been deployed to Sosua to frighten the shoe shine boys into giving up their boxes.....
