[h=5]Just past Cabarete you'll find the village (hamlet) Los Brazos. The residents are very poor and because there is no tourism, there is no additional income. The children in the Los Brazos area never celebrated a Christmas party because the parents do not have the money. But thanks to the organizing work of three Sos?a residents, Andrea, Ina and Ute, this year the children can look forward to a real Christmas celebration. For 30 children from kindergarten and 150 children of primary school gifts have been purchased. On Monday 17 December, the children of the local school in Los Brazos will be pampered with music, clowns, popcorn, candy and pizza. A good friend of the trio, from the USA, raised funds for this Christmas celebration.[/h]

Santa Claus Visited Los Brazos

[h=5]Several days ago I posted the story from the Sosua News about plans to celebrate Christmas with the children in Los Brazos, most of whom had never been visited by Santa Claus. Today the Sosua News reported on the big day for the children in Los Brazos.

Again this year, three residents of Sos?a, namely Ute K?nig, Andrea Gude and Ina Hapke gave a big Christmas party for 150 children. These are children from the village (hamlet) Los Brazos. The children in the Los Brazos area never celebrate a Christmas party because the parents don't have the money for that. But thanks to the organizing work of the three German Sos?a residents this year the children could look forward to a real Christmas party. Fortunately it was on Monday 17 December very good weather. About 30 kindergarten children and 120 students, the teachers, the school principal and parents sat expectantly waiting for Santa Claus.[/h] [h=5]Santa Claus visited Los Brazos[/h]
[h=5]Santa Claus visited Los Brazos[/h] [h=5]It was for the kids the first time in their lives that they saw Santa Claus in person. Timidly they went one by one to Santa Claus to receive their gift. The kids were entertained all afternoon with performances of the Clowns Pepe J. and Cristino. Everyone was really enjoying themselves and there was singing and dancing, but also candy and a soda drink. At the end of the afternoon, there was also a pizza for everyone. Thanks to the efforts of Ute, Andrea and Ina and the many generous donors the children from the poor families of Los Brazos could enjoy a real Christmas party this year.[/h]
