Hello
My husband and I are both US Veterans and moved here recently. We were wondering if there many Veterans who resided here in the DR.

Yes , azconj, some of us are veterans, U.S. Army RA. 1969-1971 Also one of our more distinguish menber c.c. was also a Navy man.

Thanks for your reply. My husband and I were both Corpsman in the Navy. We should get together one of these days.

5 in Naval Air - five minutes into the eye exam, career over

2 in Marine Helicopters - 2 seconds into the letter inviting me to apply for Marine helicopters the letter went into the circular file

2 in the army - 2 hours into the draft induction physical (hurry up and wait) they took an x-ray of my left arm to check out an old injury and sent me home.

28 months in the US Peace Corps in Kanchanaburi, Thailand, home of the Bridge on the River Kwai

It's not military and I never saw a shot fired in anger. However once in the Mosquito Bar in Klong Toey a fight broke out and a shot glass missed my head by inches.

Jawoll!!!! You bet German forces count! I trained often with German units in the 4+ years I was stationed in Frankfurt!

Canadian Airforce : 1978-2012 Now residing in Jarabacoa. Spent most of my career with Search & Rescue Squadrons, but also have Jet, Hercules, P3 time.....etc.

FYI.....Did you know that there is a US Veteran ServiceCenter coming soon to Santiago. They can help with you benefits claim*new claims, claim for increase. Also they can help you get medical care here in theDR for your service connected condition. A lot more other services.
