Leaving the DR while waiting on Residency

All the process has been completed, including the medical exam and fingerprints. But, they say it takes 4-5 months to get my "cedula" or Residency card.

Am I allowed to travel in and out of DR while waiting for it? I came here on a Residency Visa.

This was valid only for 60 days, and it is expired. I really need to go out of the country sometime in October, but I am not sure if it will be processed by then.

It will probably be ready by then, but if not, I've travelled with the paper they give you that has a number written on it as proof it has been deposited, without any problem, without having I pay a late fee and without having to pay the 10 dollars tourist tax.
