1. We have seen pickup trucks loaded with blocks of ice, heading out of Puerta Plata toward Maimon. Does anyone know where the ice is made - and can you get home delivery of same ? Never had this problem in Canada, but swimming pool temperature is so high ( and we are still in April ) that we have talked about getting a truckload of block ice, for a few neighbors pools.

2. Do any of the local ( Sosua area ) propane companies make home delivery ? Meaning can the tanker just come to your house and fill large propane tanks directly from the tanker, via hose ?

2. Home delivery of propane or simply the purchase of propane, Buyer beware is all I can say, if you have a scale to check the delivery even better.

Just because it is a big well know company making the deliveries does not mean the meter has not been altered....

We use over 1,500 gallons of propane a month, filling 100 lb. tanks from a bulk carrier delivery truck, I weighed the truck coming and going before and after delivery, scale weight was showing 70 gallons light on the actual deliveries, confronted delivery people, over course they scowfed at our truck scale, so I went and bought a small platform scale, now they fill each tank on the scale and by golly according to their meter we get 28 gallons in a 25 gallon tank and they let us pay for only 25, what a deal and such nice folks too huh!

oh and the independent guy who goes around in his pickup to pick up and go fill your tank for 150.00 pesos, what a deal well he does not put in the full amount.

There may be better ways than ice:

Glacier Pool Coolers | The Leader In Pool Cooling Systems

Pool Cooler | Pool Cooler Creates Refreshing Feeling In Hot Summer Days

Affordable, Attractive Pool Cooling System

Guess you would not have that problem in Canada, wonder why???
You use a hot tub in winter, with your drink of choice!
