I've often read that a good strategy for protecting yourself against robbery is to carry a fake wallet. Specifically, all those credit card offers that put a fake but real looking card in the advert; place those and place a few real bills in the fake wallet. Essentially, if you're robbed, the idea being that you give over the fake instead of your real wallet and you're not out much money. Although a bit risky, it seems like sound strategy. However, I'm wondering if folks who live in DR would employ this tactic? I image that this would work best if you were only a tourist, but could have negative consequences if you lived there. The a$$holes who robbed you could potentially remember you and make you a further target. Agreed?
Just wanted to know what the locals thought.
Thanks!
