Does anyone have information about the Jazz festival in Cabarete?
What musicians will be playing?
What days?
What times?
I think it starts on Oct. 31st, but not sure...

Is there also music in Sosua?

Bernie Williams and his alternate career after the NY Yankees is playing.

Have you ever heard him?
He is actually pretty good, it's more of a hobby for him, not a career.
Why must you be so negative, I suppose The Jolly Roger pays well.

I didn't see anything in his post being negative, more stating a fact that now that Bernie Williams is retired from the Yankees he is playing with his Jazz band in Cabarete.

Bernie Williams is a decent guitar player, especially for a former baseball star.
I see that he will be playing in Puerto Plata on October 31st, 8pm or later, at Parque Independencia.

Are there any publicos or other cheap transportation back to Cabarete (from Puerto Plata) after the show?

I said nothing negative about Bernie, did I? No, I have never heard him play and had no idea he was a musician.

I merely remarked he will be playing at the festival. If I said something negative, point it out so I don't "offend your sensibilities" again. He was certainly a very good ballplayer and I enjoyed watching him play for the Yankees.

he is good, but not what you would call a great player. he is nowhere in the league of players like Frank Gambale, Pat Metheney, Nguyen Le, or that level. nice , easy listening fluff music with good production qualities, and good backing musicians. typical GRP music...Dave Grusin style.

A little Al di Meola, one of my favorite guitarists.
I saw him with Simon Phillips, Steve Gadd plays this in the studio with Anthony Jackson, WOW, listen to this.

windeguy, this one is for you, as a guy who is about guitars and keyboards..

look at the looks of admiration from bassist Rosanna Nicolosi for Brian Auger

Frank Gambale is evil...

Great video!. Reminded me of when I stopped into a restaurant to have dinner in Las Vegas while there for a trade show and saw that a band was going to play. A guy was heading out as I was entering, and had just seen a show by the band with the next show scheduled in about an hour. I asked him about the show. He said, I never heard of these guys before, but it was amazing.

So I sat right next to where the keyboards were set up. Turned out to be Tom Coster on keyboards, Frank Gambale on guitar, Steve Smith on drums and I don't recall who the bass player was. All great players in one incarnation of a group called Vital Information.

Tom Coster is tremendous..he played with Carlos Santana on the two best albums Santana ever made; Welcome, and Borboletta. that was when Santana used two keyboard players simultaneously. the other was another genius called Richard Kermode, who unfortunately had some mental issues and died in Florida.

Never got to see Al di Meola play live. Yes he is great. Reminds me of John McLaughlin a bit, with Cobham, Ponty, and others, whom I did see play 3 or 4 times.

Another favorite, Pat Metheny, a little "Jazzier".

Not really a "jazz" bassist, but one of my favorite on that instrument. Mark King does OK on this jazz tune.
