Riu vs Barcelo vs Iberostar vs Melia (Punta Cana)

Is the quality of the hotels from the chains, Riu, Barcelo, Iberostar and Melia in Punta Cana about the same?
Are there major differences, are some more upscale, is the quality and quantity of food about the same? the pools?
The Riu hotels only have their buffet restaurant, is it an advantage that the other hotels like the Barcelo, Melia, Iberostar have also other restaurants, or do they change their menu in the Riu everyday, so that you don't get bored?

You would never get bored eating at Barcelo, You could actually eat at a different restaurant every nite. It is a huge resort.
You don't get better than Barcelo!!!!!!!!

We stayed at the Barcelo this past January and would go there again. It was nice having the buffet but even nicer having so many other a la carte restaurants to choose from.
It was a great resort.

My sister stayed at the RIU Bambu and she said they had a fabulous time. She wouldn't hesitate to go back there either - so you can't go wrong!!!!
