Hipolito Mejia announces he will not go to PRD convention
SANTO DOMINGO -. Former President Hipolito Mejia said Friday he will not participate in the next PRD convention.
Also called on his followers not to take part in "this farce."
He said that two years ago, has made all efforts to unify the organization and to be an option in 2016, "but everything has been in vain."
To do this, he explained that it was addressed by representatives of the Churches, members of civil life of the business, the media, international leaders and friends of the PRD, "but we can not get the other group to see reason" due to the "arrogant and undemocratic" attitude Miguel Vargas, president of the PRD.
Mejia also accused the judges of the Superior Electoral Tribunal (TSE) of being "complicit Vargas.
He argued that "the Superior Electoral Court and the current JCE the country will be led to a new electoral slaughter. Therefore must face specific actions to stay corrected that situation and there is no opportunity to repeat."
He said that he will face an opponent Vargas. "We decided to participate as a PRD in the broad opposition front Convergence for a Better Country, composed of political parties, popular organizations, civil society and individual citizens committed to the best interests of the Dominican people," he said in an address from the Instituto Jos? Francisco Pe?a G?mez.
"This agreement will allow space for PRD and the people prosecute the struggle and demands for political, economic and social demands that are pressing them," he said.
Also described as "perverse" the so-called pact signed blue ties between it and the president Leonel Fernandez, who was responsible for the crisis that crosses the white party.
He said the agreement was designed with the intent to remove the PRD competition and perpetuate the PLD in power.
In this regard, urged leaders and PRD to do everything necessary to "recover" the party.
