From today's Sosua News:

After the parade (February 27) through the streets of El Batey and Charamicos at which many students from different schools participated, the main Clisante Pedro was closed for traffic. The street was transformed into a free market where individuals and businesses could offer all kinds of stuff, like ice cream, jewelry, clothing, fruits and vegetables and hotdogs.

The restaurants and bars as Jolly Roger, Tipico Alberto, Cubana, Britannia Bar had put tables and chairs in the street. For children, there were also various activities like a bouncy castle, mask making, dunk tank, fishing game, bottle throwing, and much more. Especially the 'dunk tank' was highly appreciated by the children.

here was a prison where visitors could pay ransom for the prisoners. The money will be donated to Sos?a Kids, Mustard Seed, Cadmis School in Sos?a Abajo, Monkey Jungle and Judy's Pet Lodge (AAAS). Besides this revenue, from several other stalls the revenue is also donated to these charities.

With this festival, it again became clear how pleasant it is when the restaurants not only during the day time for the occasion of this festival, but also in the evening are able to put their tables and chairs in the street. How pleasant it is for the public not to be disturbed by the noise of the motortaxis and the exhaust fumes of cars and motors.

Perhaps we are getting closer to a full time pedestrian zone? I thnk that would be a big win for Sosua. Sorry about the thumbs down. My bad. It's definitely a thumbs up. Way up.
