I have been buying the bootleg CD and DVD copies sold on the streets for eight years now at 50 pesos. There has always been a high percentage of "write-offs" for quality but at that price I could accept that.
But now the general quality has sunk so low I find only one in eight is watchable. My problem is that while I speak enough Spanish to muddle through in daily life, I don't have enough to enjoy a movie with intelligent dialogue so I need English language movies or subtitled ones.
In principle my regular vendors will exchange them if defective or not as described, but with that ratio there is an ever growing backlog to be exchanged.
Time to go legal!
