'Islands' magazine August 2014 issue names the Dominican Republic in the '20 Best Islands To Live On' list, including the DR also in the 'Top 5 To Start a Business'.

10 Best Islands to Live On for Starting a Business | Move to an Island | Island Jobs and Careers | Islands

Here's the blurb, if you are unable to get to the link:

No. 2: Dominican Republic (Las Terrenas)
Again, what?s the best way to research an island business model? Take a long trip to the island and see what goods or services you just can?t find there. There?s your product. Now you just need a source, a license and a shingle. Proximity and ties to the US make it doable in the DR. What?s missing in Las Terrenas, heart of the Samana Peninsula? Go find out. (It?s not sunshine or soft sand.)

(The other Top 5 were; St. John, America Samoa, Eleuthera, and Cozumel).
Seems like it may partly be a repeat from last year's list, but always great to mentioned, I think.

It also has a gorgeous photo spread on the North Coast in the 'On Assignment' segment.
