Yes, the outsider's perception of the best Dominican health care is that it is subpar-----my wife and elderly mother-in-law are afraid of exposure to deficient care. However, aren't there many Dominican physicians trained in the US and in other 1st world medical schools? And I was completely surprised when I read about the current Dominican president leaving to be treated in Florida recently. What a slap in the face of your country's medical system and its professionals.
no American trained physician would come here to practice.
There is not enouogh money in it.
it goes the other way..
yes that is it.. the PRESIDENT leaves
your wife and mil are right to be concerned..
as well as being exposed to diseases that have long been eradicted in the USA
plus some that have not hit there.. like chikungunya
there are a few doctors here who have trained in europe.. like france or spain or argentina
and i have one who is at least board certified in the USA and that is certainly very very rare
you will only find USA standards of cleanliness in the best hospitals
you will NOT find USA nursing care ANYWHERE here
nursing care here is .. well.. pretty much delegated to family who are supposed to move into the hospital with you
i mean, even into Hospiten or Clinic Abreu here in the Capital that is the case
