How hard is it to get a Dominican driver's license for a naturalized Dominican citizen or permanent resident who already holds an American, Canadian, European, etc. license? Would one still have to take a driving test or even take classes?
Americans have to take the written test (on a computer) and the practical driving test as their Embassy will not authenticate a State driver's license. For countries that will, only the written test is required.
Get a good conduct certificate from the police. (paid for a banreserva)
Pay the DL licensing fees at banreserva
Take computer test, pass and walk away with a learners permit
wait 45 days
Pay for (at banreserva) then take practical test, walk away with license.
For a Canadian - go to embassy, get validly of Canadian driver licence certified by embassy. Got to Dominican Chancery and get stamped and legalized. Go to Bank Reservas and pay your fee, then take everything along with your residency card and cedula to the DG office in Santo Domingo ( by the National Palace) , present your paperwork, take a blood test and eye exam, get your picture taken and you get your drivers licence. No test - nada.
