I see now its 34mw of a total 67mw when fully complete. Good to see a huge project like this finally completing. From my experience the costs seem high based on this articlehttp://www.pv-tech.org/news/nsp-project-arm-completes-34mw-of-caribbean-solar
110 million for 67mw farm. I thought average prices were 1million per mw.

Who is assigned to clean the bird doo-doo off the panels? Give it a month or two and it won't be functional, like most everything else in the D.R...traffic signals, street lights!

Today's DR1 News:
DR has largest solar power plant in Caribbean
President Danilo Medina was in Monte Plata yesterday, Tuesday 29 March 2016, to inaugurate the country's biggest solar power plant.
Described as the largest renewable energy project in the Dominican Republic, the plant was built at a cost of US$110 million and will eventually generate 67 megawatts, with 30 in this first phase. It will also provide more than 300 direct and 1,000 indirect jobs.
In this first stage alone, the project triples the number of existing solar panels in the country, and once completed, it will increase the current photovoltaic power in the country fivefold.
As reported, the power generated by the Monte Plata solar project will be able to supply clean energy to more than 50,000 households.
This General Energy Solutions project is the largest Taiwanese investment made in the country.
The company says that 270,000 panels are being installed, making it not only the largest solar project to date in the DR but also in the Caribbean region. As explained, once completed it will produce 51,000,000 kWh per year, which represents a reduction in pollution of 70,000 tons of CO2 annually, improving the sustainability of the country's electricity grid and the economy as a whole.

Interesting......

To guage the market price one can google Indianapolis Airport solar farm complete at end of 2014 by the same Taiwanese company and find that 44,000 panels and 25.5MW, the cost was $35 - $40 million as against the completed Monte Plata development at 132,000 panels and $110million with final output of 67MW.

Interestingly Indianapolis employs 12 employees to operate their site.

Perhaps you should read Articles 9 through 14 of the Law posted in Post #9 to understand the incentives offered to be able to comment more worthily?

And I wonder how many other countries are offering tax incentives to companies reducing the carbon footprint. Does USA do this??

You bet your top 1% are making a darn sight more than a few tax reduced 'yepetas' out of such tax incentives.
