We were discussing last night the dates of high and low season in Cabarete.....none of us could agree.

Would you be kind enough to break it down for us

high
low
shoulder
months most small hotels are closed

November - March = high
April - October = Low (after semana santa)

From the Resort I am staying at near Cabarete.
Low. April 7- June 30. Oct 1 to Dec 14.
High. Jan 16-March 28. July 1-Sept 30.
Super High. March 29-April 6. Dec 15- Jan 15.

summer time is also school holiday in most of europe and traditionally lots of family folks take a week off from work to go somewhere as a family.

I disagree with you... Try booking a plane ticket (for Montr?al in my case) in June, July or August under 700$.... Let me know if you find some.. I used to think that summer would be bargain prices... Yeah right !

There are a lot less flight coming from Canada at that time so price is a premium.....

High Season Nov 15- Ap 15
Shoulder June 15- Aug 30
Low rest of the time not mentioned

My thoughts not yours

Why are the hotels in July & August in Cabarete MORE expensive in the Summer than Spring?

Correct answer with respect to Cabarete in the summer months. It agrees with my experience renting apartments to water sports people and snowbirds that there are two "high" seasons in Cabarete. One in the winter and one in the summer. April and September being the slowest months. This is from 13 years of experience renting, not conjecture.
