I came back from the ?corner store?.

They have a new poster. Beer has went up in price.

Presidente Beer
Jumbo 140Peso
Grande 100Peso

Just in time or Tourist Season

Is this the same all over the DR, or is this a ?Special? for Sosua??

Cabarete
Bought some Presidente today at Janet's supermarket in Cabarete - 135 pesos for a jumbo. The cap was marked 125. I only paid 120 pesos for a jumbo there last Saturday(and for about the past year). Grandes were 100 pesos.

A six-pack of Presidentes was 385 pesos. I can buy a 12 pack of Presidentes in Miami for the equivalent of 500 pesos. Go figure.

I can buy a case of 24 grande's for 2100 pesos (87.5) per bottle. That works out to aprox $65CDN. The cost for that much name brand beer in Canada would be around $100 CDN. Not sure how you think the price in Canada is less.
Presidente is a pilsner beer. Always has been. It even says so on the label.*

Presidente is a Pilsner.
I am sure there is a German or Belgian beer expert somewhere on the forum, but technically a pilsner is a pale lager. There are two classes of beer: Ales & Lagers. The difference is based on the temperature at brewing and therefore strain of yeast used.
Originally pilsner started in Plzen, Czechoslovakia (actually Bohemia) because yeast in Ales were spoiling and cold brewing began.
Of course I consider Presidente an undrinkable p*ss form of lager and at least Bohemia retained the name of the original locale where Pilsner originated, and is much more drinkable.

No $48.95 24 ($1700 peso)($71 peso a beer )corona 24pack, amstel $43.85 , cheapest bear $32.95 lucky lager $1140 peso 24pack ,both taxes in Ontario Canada, Quebec even cheaper with party barrel of ice incl. so if we in North American wages can produce and sell cheaper then in DR ... it's a WTF moment and would like to thank all the drinkers
In DR for their help in building infrastructure in DR with every pint raised...

Just went to the new grocery store across from Don Andres on Calle Stern in West Indies Plaza called
La Playa Cafe Ministore and bought a Presidente Light for 80 pesos.
Very nice people working there too.*
Good addition to the neighborhood.
