    Default Dominican Pharmacies

What are the preferred Dominican pharmacies for DR1ers?

The DR not only has trusted chains to get prescription medicines, counter medicines, and in some places other stuff can be purchased as well. With counterfeit prescription medicines being a problem in some lesser known pharmacies, it could be a life saver to know which pharmacies can be frequented without worrying of counterfeit anything.

Some of the Dominican pharmacies chains includes:

CarolX (right now has the most stores nationwide)

    Los Hidalgos

    GBC

There are other Dominican pharmacy chains and independently owned pharmacies all over the place.

People can share where they go for their pharmacology needs, good or bad experiences, recommendations, etc.

No chains in the campo, but the pharmacies here are great and the pharmacists well qualified.

the only pharmacy i use is Farmacia Popular.. the reason is because they are the only ones who sell tablets by the unit. i can buy one of my prescription, not a whole bottle, if i choose to. i buy a week's supply at a time. why? because if my doctor changes my prescription the day after i buy a bottle of 60 tablets, i am out of luck. it has happened to me twice. not again. one week at a time..

San Miguel has a number of Farmacias in Jarabacoa. I don't know if they are in other parts of the DR.

CarolX, easy and convenient. Have not had a bad experience yet. They were really helpful when I injured my knee in recommending some alternatives for the pain.
