Damajagua Falls set a record for visitors in 2019
More than 120,000 persons visited Damajagua Water Falls in Puerto Plata. The nature site includes a trail on land and water, with 27 large and small waterfalls. It is a national monument with a well-marked trail, clean solar energy, and footbridges. Trip Advisor lists the falls as the number one place to visit on the north coast. The excursion is a favorite with cruise ship visitors.

Museum of the Sea: the new attraction in Santo Domingo
Visit the new Museum of Royal Shipyards in the Colonial City to learn about the daring sailors that crossed the Atlantic Ocean in search of wealth and adventure.

The museum tells the story of Spanish galleons, captains and their crew. See a selection of the thousands of valuable artifacts that have recovered from the sea. Jewels, coins, ingots, cannons are all part of the Laboratory of Undersea Cultural Patrimony at the new museum. The museum is open Tuesday to Saturday from 9 to 5pm.

Maraca: the new “in” restaurant in Santo Domingo
With a very “Manhattan” look with a tropical slant, the Maraca Restaurant opened last week in the Colonial City of Santo Domingo. The food is eclectic, with a mix of Dominican and international creations. The restaurant is at Calle Arzobispo Nouel 202. Young entrepreneur Victor Atallah explains that two Colonial City houses were fitted for the restaurant. Maraca is open on weekends for lunch and dinner and other evenings from 6pm.
