My husband and I just returned from our first trip to the Dominican Republic. We spent our first night at Rocky's Bar & Grill in Sosua. Marco was wonderful and I would reccomend a night at Rocky's for anyone visiting Sosua. We don't speak any Spanish so it was nice to have someone explain the ins and outs to us.
After a night at Rocky's we got up bright and early to catch the Caribe Tours Bus to Samana where we would be staying for the next few days. As it turns out, the bus was broken down that day. Marco arranged to get us a taxi with a wonderful driver who spoke some English. The drive from Sosua to Samana was amazing without a moment of boredom. Our taxi driver, Jesus was kind enough to stop at some points of interest that he thought we might enjoy.
We spent a few days in Samana at a resort and visited Samana Bay Village. Then back to Sosua for another night at Rocky's. We visited the Synagogue and then some shopping. The vendors are something else. That is all I will say on that subject.
While our trip was short it was amazing. Probably the most beautiful place I have ever visited and the people we met while there were wonderful. I would like to thank all of the people who have contributed to this forum. Without all of the information I learned from the forum I am sure that I would have had a much different experience in the Dominican Republic. We were fortunate to be able to experience the local culture rather than shutting ourselves off in an all inclusive and have brought back memories that will last a lifetime.
