I think its the perfect solution- to use Dominican and other stars in their promotional material. Before i ever went to DR i knew nothing about the local music scene and having local stars in an advert would have done nothing for me. After having been there though i've fallen in love with the music, with JLG now being among my very favourite artists. i think having foreign stars like Shakira will draw attention to the project, and having national stars along side will draw attention to the great talent that DR has to offer. A good compromise.

I fully agree. It give a taste of the country's culture in a familiar package. However, the merengue and bachata won't sound the same without the skull splitting volume level and the scratchy blown speakers.
