Just got back 2 weeks ago. Great place. Good food, good drinks. At the beach bar, look for Alan and say Gage from Canada says hello, and when he pours you a drink, say grande, grande, just like Gage. and you will get a good drink. At the pool bar, look for Luis and same saying goes. They were great. And it pays to tip once in a while, you will get a lot better service once they know you. How long are you going for? If you want to see the real Dominican, talk the Jorje (George) one of the doormen there and say Gage says hello. He has a car, and he may offer to take you around,( but on the sly, because the cab drivers can get pretty nasty, ) if he takes a liking to you. He is a really nice guy. All the staff there are very pleasant and honest.George will be one of the guys who takes up your luggage to your room. Give them at least a $3 tip. These guys know everything, if they like you, and will not steer you wrong. The tours are to pricey if you ask me. And I have been travelling for almost 30 years now. A good one is the ATV 4 wheelers out of the Paradise. Look for a fellow by the name of Francisco on the beach. Just a young guy about 5 ft. tall. 20 years old. He sells the tours. $60 US for 2 people on 1 bike and they go for 6 1/2 hours up into the hills, poor villages, cane fields, beach, all over. Nice ride. Very dusty though. so dont dress fancy. Say hello for me also. We talked a lot. Nice guy. Walk out the 1/2 mile to the main road and take a local bus into Puerto Plata. Only 5 pesos each I think it was, a lot cheaper than the unionized taxis at the resort. We found Sosua a lot more fun though. It is the other way and may be a little more expensive. We took a taxi to go there with another couple. $40 return . Local bus would be alot cheaper. But, hey, we were on hollidays and had money left. :O) Well, my friend, have fun and write me back,

Re: Has anyone been to Paradise Beach Club - Gage

Gage: did your wife get her jewellery back? I was really sad to hear about that as I know how upset she must be. I can't believe someone would actually keep that kind of jewellery.

Paradise Beach Club. Susan

Sadly to say, NO!!!! We cant believe it either. 8 Years ago, we were in Hawaii and saw a lady crying on the beach when we went down. She had lost a 3 carat ring in the water. I had my mask and snorkel in my hand and she asked if I could look around. So in I went and a million to one odds , I actually found it in about 20 minutes laying in a small patch of sand in the middle of all the coral. Unbelievable. I must say , when I saw it, I had a thought , but then , what the hell, I stuck my hand up and yelled, and I thought she was going to jump in after me.She was hugging my wife, my kids, and everyone around. By the time I got to shore, she ran in and gave me a big hug and a kiss on the cheek and shook my hand leaving a $100 US bill, which I really did not want to accept, and my wife was also saying no, no, but she insisted, and the crowd started saying , yeah, go ahead. Well, that was my good deed for the day and the best in years. She was one lucky and happy lady. Made our day. Made us feel really great. I dont know who she was and never saw her again that week, but all I know she was from Oklahoma. Must have been oil . BIG ring. So in all my diving days, that was the biggest treasure I ever found. $100. But the gratitude was worth thousands $$$$$$$. But, no one has called about the wifes rings, and we cant believe someone would keep them either. My wife says thank you for asking though. Where do you live? We are in Manitoba, Canada. Have a great and very pleasant day, ay.:O) Gage
