You can almost bet that the current exchange rate would be about one american dollar is equal to around 15.xx pesos.

There is no single current exchange rate as exchange houses and banks are free to post their own rates. Expect to get at least RD$15.60 for your dollar. Exchange houses will offer more than commercial banks, such as RD$15.85 to RD$16. Sometimes there is an upwards run on the dollar, and then rates have gone to RD$16.10-RD$16.20.

What is the best way to exchange? Do the cash machines offer the rate of the day like the US or Canada? We are Americans flying out of Canada so options are open. Any advise is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
