Bargain Lodging in Sto. Domingo

Is it possible to find a passable single room in (or near, but preferably in) the Zona Colonial for under US$30? I'm not asking for large or luxurious, just clean and an a/c to sleep at night. Anybody know about the Hostal Hostos or El Refugio?
