Bavaro is a resort area. Most of the resorts are gated, and most tourists arrive voucher in hand, with reservations already made for. If you prefer to drive and choose, please go ahead and do so. For sure you will find a room, although the rates that you get for packages are almost always better than for walk in. You may also look into hotels in the La Romana/Bayahibe area, that is about two hours away to the West.
