You would expect from a name like Politur (Policia de Turismo) that some of them at least speak another language. You guessed, no they speak neither German, French nor English. Ideally before they are selected for Politur they should have passed an exam of any other language, but that is not the case.
If you live in Sosua or the surrounding area you are bound to have encountered a few of them during the course of the day. Maybe you should stop them (you will find them to be extremely polite and clean) whenever you can and give them a language book. Well you may not carry a language book with you always, but how about talking to them in your language and even better try to teach them a sentence in your language, it will be fun.
Failing that, you can look for their Captain, he is not hard to get hold of, residents of Sosua will vouch for that because as a friend of ours commented "he is everywhere from 7am 'till the late hours of the evening". His name is Captain Manzueta, with his mass of over 300lbs in his white Terrios, he is easily noticed.
Our Captain Manzueta is a big character, always ready to help, the face of Sosua has been given a makeover since he arrived on the job a year and 3 months ago. It should be a new challenge for him to get his team to speak a new language, so just give them a hand and give them some language books.
