Can someone please provide me with inexpensive to moderate hotels in Santo Domingo within walking distance to the US Embassy. I would only need to stay at the hotel one night, but want to be within minutes of the US Embassy. I would defintely need an air conditioner.

Hotel Cervantes is not too far from from the Embassy and i dont think its too expensive either i know they have air conditioned rooms and a pool. Sorry I don't have any more info. like an address or a phone number.

Hotel Cervantes is closed. Walking distance would be the Mariott Courtyard hotel (about a 15 minute walk). Elsewise, the Jaragua is but a 10 minute drive.

Taxis in Santo Domingo are not that expensive. A lot cheaper there than in Sosua, for example.
