I read "Our growing foreign population" on dr1 on Monday, 28 June. Very interesting info about expats in DR!
The article made me wonder what all those expats are doing for a living? Does anybody have statistics on this issue? I am very curious to know!
How many are working in DR and living on that income?
How many are living on a pension from their native country?
How many live off investments?
How many expats can be considered as wealthy? (Whatever "wealthy" is?)
How many are "latter day hippies" living like bohemians in DR? (and therefore not being "wealthy")
And what is the percentage of failure? Meaning, how many move to DR, with the intention of staying there, but later on actually give up and leave?
And why do they give up? Lack of money? Culture clash? Missing home?
Answers to above questions will give a good added perspective, I think, on the pros and cons of moving to DR for those considering taking that leap
