Hi everyone! I've being thinking about doing a poker tournament here (SD), at one of the nice hotels of the capital, and I want some advice from you ppl.
First, I've being planning of doing it a three day long tournament for around 200 participants. How much you think I could award to the winners? How much would be a reasonable entry fee, based on the award and based on the fact that I'm doing this because I like poker, but mainly to earn some bucks. And finally, do you think tourists or expats would like to spend three days of their lives playing nice poker, meeting different people at a distinguished environment? I'm possitive that I would set up a cool event, but I'm not so sure about the response of the public here, since I have never heard of a poker tournament in santo domingo.

Any and all advices are welcome. Hope you can help me to make a nice tournament.

advice

Be aware that you need a licence to run tables in the DR. A smoker at your house is one thing, a 3 day 200 people tournament is another. The casinos aren't going to be impressed and you can be sure that if you don't dot your i's and cross your t's someone will do it for you.

Free advice, so if you don't take it, don't ask for your money back ;)

I am going to Vegas this week for several days for the antique watch convention. I plan on trying what you guys taught me. I'll keep my eye open for any " special " watches. Again thanks, John
