We are slated to visit the Riu Palace Macao in April, 2000. It sounds like a promising vacation spot. We are used to Cancun and this will be our first time in DR. Does anyone have any information on this hotel and the surrounding area? What kinds of activities are available? I am anxious to read a trip report on this property. Debbie's Dominican Republic site has no info on this hotel.

Have visited the hotel but never stayed there. But one may say this hotel is the closest to a five star beach hotel one can get in the DR. It is a hotel primarily for couples, not children. Gourmet friends have said the food at the hotel is excellent, and of course the beach is tops. But if you liked the action in Canc?n, please be aware that people come to Punta Cana primarily for relaxing, not night life or shopping. Hotel guests have the Disco Pach?, one of the most lively in the area, and there is a casino, but again, it is mostly for those that want to enjoy their own company, and that of a group of people you may meet at the hotel.
